The first IT was way before the cave painting. Remember the primates in the opening scene of 2001, A Space Odyssey? They watched while one discovered you could raise a lump of stuff and thump someone with it. The knowledge was shared. They were a community of practice. IT is more pervasive and insidious than you suggest. We can’t not upgrade to the latest version. And because of this, it’s not a matter of if but when machines can make machines better than we can.
